What percentage do you need to pass the MBLEx? ›

The MBLEx is scored on a scale from 300-900, and you must achieve a score of at least 630 to pass.

To obtain CAMTC certification, you must attend a CAMTC-approved massage therapy school in California with a program length of 500 hours or more. Of those 500 hours, a minimum of 100 must be in anatomy and physiology, contraindications, health and hygiene, and business and ethics.

As with most massage specialties, a certification is not required.

Only 59% of candidates passed their exam in November 2021. However, in May and June of 2022, pass rates were back at 73%. For the 2023 report, the MBLEx is back up to over 17,000 testing attempts and a 72% first-time pass rate. Now, let's look at the recent changes to the MBLEx so you can prepare and PASS your exam.

The State of California does not license the massage profession. The California Massage Therapy Council, a private non-profit corporation, issues voluntary certifications to massage professionals that meet the requirements in the Massage Therapy Act. CAMTC Certification is voluntary.

What is the pass rate on the MBLEx? The overall MBLEx pass rate is 67.0%. The first attempt pass rate is 73.4%.

Your unofficial examination result will be printed at the testing center. This will have your result on it and will be for your records. The examination result will only show a Pass or Fail on it. FSMTB ONLY sends official results to the state board/licensing agency that you designate on your MBLEx application.

So, is there a limit to the number of times you can take the test? The answer is a little complicated, but in most cases, no. The FSMTB, who administers the MBLEx, does not limit the number of times you can take the MBLEx. But the FSMTB does limit the number of times you take the exam within a 30-day period.
