Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (2024)

Here’s a vegan holiday menu that’s a bit on the traditional side. If you’re looking for some last-minute inspiration to add to your plant-based table this holiday season, you’ll enjoy these simple to make but delectable recipes!

Vegan almost eleven years, the food “rules” have become less and less rigid at mytable. Pie for breakfast? Sure, why not? Smoothie for dinner? If that’s what I’m Jonesing for, that’s what I have. The line between “main dish” and “side dish” gets a little blurred, too, when there’s no one definitively centerpiece dish the other dishes revolve around. I like that kind of freedom even if it’s a mostly traditional vegan holiday menu.

However, I’m also a huge fan of the sides. What I’m trying to say is, that just like if you were to come to my actual table on Thanksgiving … or Christmas or Chanukah or Kwanza or Easter or Eostara or any other fantastic reason to celebrate being alive by sharing food, you’re getting mostly desserts and sides here. There are a couple of standout plant-based main dishes though, that are favorites. Such as …

Vegan Thanksgiving Lentil Loaf from Vegan Heaven

I like how savory and substantial this looks. No one is going to leave hungry after enjoying this hearty plant-based main dish.

Glazed Tofu Roast from Yup, It’s Vegan

This Glazed Tofu Roast looks so simple to make, but also looks amazingly yummy. Shannon, from Yup, It’s Vegan, created this ham-like recipe and I think it would be a tasty addition to any holiday spread.

A lot of what makes any holiday dinner great are the side dishes. Many are either naturally plant-based or can be very easily veganized. Try some of all of these yummy additions.

Gluten-Free Millet Stuffing from Vegan Yack Attack

“Ooo, this looks good!” This Gluten-Free Millet Stuffing from Jackie at Vegan Yack Attack looks delish. I like that it’s not pretending to be regular bread stuffing. It’s asking to be appreciated for its gluten-free, just slightly different from what’s expected awesomeness. This will be coming with us tomorrow for sure.

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (3)

Easy Vegan Stuffing from The Vegan 8

OK, this plant-based stuffing is totally embracing its gluten-y goodness. It’s your traditional type of stuffing. A vegan, gluten-free ciabattaor ciabatta-like bread could be substituted, though, and still be a delicious yet conventional choice.

Best Vegan Mashed Potatoes Ever (Really!) from Planted365 (c’estmoi!)

These lovely clouds of mashed potatoes really are the best I’ve made so far. Plant-based milks and butters make this even better than the “real” thing.

4 Ingredient Carmelized Onion Gravy from Veggies Don’t Bite

Now, what are you going to put over all those yummy sides? May I suggest this Carmelized Onion Gravy from Sophie at Veggies Don’t Bite? It only uses four ingredients and looks silky smooth. She even has tips on creating the perfect lump-free gravy.

Vegan Oil-Free Green Bean Casserole from Karissa’s Vegan Kitchen

Is it even really Thanksgiving (or any other holiday) without a green bean casserole? This has been the hardest dish for me to find a good vegan alternative for. I’m going to try this one from Karissa at Karissa’s Vegan Kitchen. It looks like it’s a winner.

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (7)

Sweet Potato Casserole from Vegan Huggs

I could eat sweet potatoes every day. How about you? This Sweet Potato Casserole from Melissa at Vegan Huggs looks crunchy on the top and creamy in the middle … and hearty, too!

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (8)

Vegan and plant-based desserts can range from super healthy to super decadent. Give me either one and I’m happy. Here’s a small selection of some deliciously sweet afterthoughts to add to your holiday meal.

Creamy Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake from Full of Plants

This Creamy Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake from Thomas over at Full of Plants is just beautiful. And gluten-free! Seriously, this would be perfect after any holiday dinner and Ithink just about anyone would find it delectable. Every vegan holiday menu needs this!

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (9)

Caramel Apple Crumble Pie from Blissful Basil

This just looks amazing. And the recipe is surprisingly on the healthy side. That’s win-win as far as I’m concerned. A really yummy recipe from Ashley at Blissful Basil.

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (10)

Raw Food Apple Pie from Planted365 (originally, Raw on $10 a Day) … hey, that’s me!

Want to try a raw food version of apple pie? Try this recipe from my book, Easy Affordable Raw. It’s both easy and economical. It’s also delicious!

Pumpkin Blondies from Vegan Richa

These are oil-free, quick and simple to make, and have yummy chocolate added, too. This isn’t a gluten-free recipe, but I would think any all-purpose gluten-free flour mix could be subbed. I’m definitely going to try it!

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (12)

Breakfast Snickerdoodle Cookies from Feasting on Fruit

Snack? Breakfast? All of the above? Yes, I’m thinking these would be good anytime, but also as a great dessert.

Vegan Holiday Menu Plant-Based Recipes (13)

Vegan Cranberry Sauce from Well and Full

Is this a side or a condiment? And why don’t we eat cranberry sauce every day? Really. Think about it. It’s super healthy, or can be, is delicious and goes on everything. And, last but not least, it’s not overly expensive. But yet we only break it out a few times a year.

Also, there are two camps when it comes to cranberry sauce. Some folks like the tube-shaped, hard-ish jello like sauce that comes in a can and can be sliced. That’s what I grew up with, but it’s not my first choice … if given one. The first time I had chunky, loose cranberry sauce I knew I was on the other side of the cranberry sauce debate. I still am. Here’s a fantastic recipe for the “other” kind of cranberry sauce from Sarah at Well and Full.
